Access Problems
Why can't I see my schedule, financial aid, etc. on SSINFO from work?
We are finding that many students who are trying to access SSINFO from work have problems. Work sites often have firewalls which hinder access to SSINFO. If you are following all the suggestions on the Home
and Page Help and still can NOT get access, we suggest accessing from a different physical site (home, library, ...) or talking to the System Administrator at work.
Return to top. Return to Access Problems.
When I Bookmark or Favorite a SSINFO page, why can't I access it later?
SSINFO pages time out in about ten (10) minutes if there is no activity. If you want to quickly access SSINFO, put the following URL in your bookmarks or favorites list: http://http://www.ssinfo.purdue.edu
.

Why can't I access SSINFO from 11:00 PM to 11:30 PM Sunday evenings?
The SSINFO is down, unless otherwise indicated, every Sunday evening from 11:00 PM to about 11:30 PM for a system reset. This ensures that in an emergency, we can quickly recover so SSINFO is available again as soon as possible.

SSINFO won't let me change my address and/or phone. Why and what should I do?
Addresses and/or phone numbers of students who live in contracted University housing (Residence Halls, Purdue Village, ...) are supplied to us on a daily basis from the Housing System. Consequently, such addresses and phone numbers can not be changed by the student. Talk to the Account Clerk or Hall Manager of the unit you are living in to update your address and phone.

SSINFO won't let me change my name. What should I do?
To change your name on official university records, it is necessary to present a document such as a marriage license, birth certificate, divorce decree or court order to the Office of the Registrar, Room 45, Hovde Hall. If such documentation is not available, three alternate documents such as driver's license, voter registration or credit card may be presented.

Surveys
Is it possible to increase the 10 minute timeout?
We do understand and appreciate the problem you are running into. The 10 minute timeout, which exists to enforce the security of your personal information, is reset every time you submit a page (a question on the survey). So, the timeout will only be a problem if it is taking more than 10 minutes to answer one of the questions.
We have received feedback from others who want to leave longer comments in free response questions (thus running into the timeout problem you are experiencing). Since the survey saves all the answers you have entered prior to the timeout, the best solution is to type up your comment in a text editor (e.g., notepad), log in to SSINFO, and copy/paste your comment into the text field of the free response question. Once you are happy with all of your responses, you should then submit your survey.
We apologize for the inconvenience of the timeout, but it really is necessary for security.
